5 signs your AC needs a gas refill.
If your AC is on but the room never gets cold — gas is usually the reason. Here's how to tell.
Runs but the air feels warm
You set it to 18°C and the room stays at 28°C. The fan blows, but the air isn't cold. The most common sign of low gas.
Ice on the AC pipe or coil
Look at the copper pipes connected to the indoor unit. Frost, ice, or white powder means the gas is too low and the system is overcooling itself.
Hissing or bubbling sound
Hissing means gas is leaking out. Bubbling means air is mixed in with the gas. Both need a refill and a leak check.
Runs non-stop without cooling
Your AC never switches off. It runs all day and the room is still warm. Without enough gas, it can't reach the set temperature.
Power bill jumped
Same usage, but your SEC bill is suddenly SAR 100–300 higher. A low-gas AC works much harder and uses 30–40% more electricity.

Why AC gas leaks happen in Riyadh.
A common myth: "ACs use up the gas like a car uses petrol." That's not true. AC gas is in a closed system — it shouldn't run out unless there's a leak.
So why do Riyadh ACs lose gas more often than others? The answer is the climate. Heat, sun exposure, and years of vibration slowly weaken every joint and seal.
Heat damages the pipes
45°C+ summers cause copper pipes to expand and contract. Over time, this creates tiny cracks at the joints — the most common leak point in Riyadh ACs.
Sun-baked outdoor units
Most outdoor units aren't shaded. Metal heats to 70°C+ and seals slowly weaken.
Cheap installation
Poor flaring or loose connections during install means gas leaks from day one — not from age.

What if there's a leak?

How we refill your AC gas, step by step.
Refilling AC gas isn't just "connect a hose and add gas." Done wrong, it can damage your compressor.
Inspection & leak check
Listen for hissing, look for oil residue near pipes, use a leak detector on joints. If a leak is found, you get a quote first.
Vacuum the system
Remove all air, moisture, and old gas. Critical step — air and water mixed with gas damage the compressor over time.
Pressure test
Seal the system and check pressure for 5 minutes. If it drops, there's a leak we missed — and we hunt it down before refilling.
Refill exact amount
Weigh the gas as we add it. Each AC has a specific charge (700g–1.2kg). Too little = weak cooling. Too much = damaged compressor.
Test the cooling
Run for 10 minutes. Properly charged AC cools 8–12°C below room temp. You get a written report with the readings.
Total time: 45 to 60 minutes per AC.

Why this matters
A dirty AC and a low-gas AC feel the same — both give weak cooling. But the problem is different.
If your AC is dirty, dust blocks the airflow. If it also has low gas, the cooling becomes even weaker. Refilling gas without cleaning means your AC will still struggle to cool properly — the dust will stop the cooling from working at full power.
