How do I size an AC system correctly?

Capacity is measured in tons (TR) or BTU/h. A room that is undersized will run nonstop in July and still feel warm. An oversized unit cools fast but leaves the air damp and wastes power.

We calculate the heat load using room size, orientation, glass area, roof exposure, people and equipment, not just square meters.

How much electricity will it use?

In Saudi homes and buildings, air conditioning is the largest part of the electricity bill. Look at the SASO energy efficiency label and the EER or SEER rating, and prefer inverter compressors. For chillers, engineers measure efficiency in kW per ton (kW/TR).

These standards are part of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Program (Tarsheed).

What does Riyadh weather do to HVAC equipment?

Summer peaks above 45°C, fine dust, sandstorms and hard water all shorten equipment life. Condenser coils clog, electrical parts overheat and compressors work harder.

That is why maintenance in Riyadh must be more frequent than the manufacturer schedule written for milder climates.

Which refrigerant does my system use?

Most modern split and VRF units use R410A or R32. Older units may still use R22, which is being phased out. Chillers often use R134a, and cold rooms often use R404A or R407C.

Leaks should always be found and fixed before recharging, not just topped up.

Should I repair or replace my old AC?

If a unit is over 10 years old, uses R22 and needs a compressor, replacement is usually the better value. Newer inverter units can use much less power. We give a straight answer after inspecting the unit.

How much does VRF or chiller installation cost in Riyadh?add

The price depends on the cooling load in tons, the number of indoor units, pipe and duct lengths, the brand you choose and the site conditions. A VRF system for a villa costs very differently from a chiller plant for a hospital. We visit your site for free, calculate the load and give you a written, itemized quotation so you can compare it fairly.

How often should an AC or chiller be serviced in Saudi Arabia?add

Because of Riyadh heat and dust, most split and ducted units need a service every 3 to 4 months, and filters should be cleaned monthly in summer. Chillers, VRF and package units in commercial buildings usually need a monthly or bi-monthly preventive maintenance visit, plus a major service once a year before summer.

What is included in an AMC contract?add

How long does HVAC installation take?add

A few split units can be installed in one day. A villa VRF system usually takes 1 to 3 weeks depending on pipe routes and ceiling work. Package units take a few days, while chiller plants and cold rooms depend on the equipment delivery date and civil works. You get a clear timeline in your quotation.

Do you provide a warranty on installation and repairs?add

Yes. Our workmanship is covered by a written warranty, and the period is stated on your quotation. New equipment also carries the manufacturer warranty, and we help you register it.

Which is better for my villa, VRF or ducted split?add

VRF is better if you want separate temperature control in many rooms, lower running costs and fewer outdoor units on the roof. Ducted split is usually cheaper to install and works well when a few zones are enough. Our engineer can compare both for your villa layout.

Do you handle emergency breakdowns on weekends?add

Yes. We work 7 days a week, and contract (AMC) clients get priority emergency response. For urgent breakdowns, call or WhatsApp us directly.

Do you provide refrigerant gas refilling, and which gases?add

Yes. We find and fix the leak first, then recharge with the correct gas, including R410A, R32, R22, R134a, R404A and R407C. For home split units, see our AC gas refill service.

What size AC do I need for my room or villa in Riyadh?add

Cooling is measured in tons or BTU per hour, and 1 ton equals 12,000 BTU/h. In Riyadh, a common rule of thumb is about 1 ton for every 10 to 14 square meters, but sun-facing rooms, roof floors, glass walls and kitchens need more. A proper heat load calculation avoids buying a unit that is too small or too big.

Why is my AC bill so high in summer even though the AC is new?add

Dirty filters and coils, low refrigerant, a unit that is too small for the room, poor insulation and running the AC at 18°C all push the SEC bill up. Setting 24°C, cleaning filters monthly in summer and choosing an inverter unit with a high SASO energy label make a clear difference.

Is R22 gas still used in Saudi Arabia?add

R22 is being phased out worldwide because it harms the ozone layer, so new systems use R410A or R32. Many older units in Riyadh still run on R22, and we can service them or advise you on replacing them when repairs stop making sense.

Why does my AC stop cooling after a dust storm?add

Ghubar (dust storms) block the outdoor coil and indoor filters, so the system cannot reject heat. Pressure rises, cooling drops and the unit may trip. A coil wash and filter clean usually restores cooling.
